It was reported in many media, the French PPR Group will buy the Italian luxury menswear label Brioni.
This comes only weeks after the French luxury conglomerate LVMH acquired the Italian luxury brand Bulgari.
It seems, the Italian luxury industry lacks access to capital, and, if they aren’t sufficiently active in growth markets – mostly in Asia, are being swallowed.
Another interesting aspect is the interest in predominantly male brands. Traditionally, the female market is about three times as big as the male market.
Could the increased interest in male luxury labels be a sign of an end to growth in the female luxury market?
