According to Handelsblatt, the investor Nicolas Berggruen will pay only 1 Euro for Karstadt, one of the two biggest German department store chains, including KaDeWe. In light of the fact, that Karstadt showed a quarterly profit in 2010, that is low.
But for the trademark Karstadt the investor will pay 5 Million Euro.
The market value of only 5 Million Euro does put some brand values published elsewhere in perspective, doesn’t it? But at least the trademark value can be realized.
