Good bye typewriters

In India the last manufacturer of typewriters, Godrey and Boyce, closed the factory.

In the 90s the company still sold up to 50,000 typewriters annually. In 2010 sales had dropped to some 800 machines, sold to government offices mostly.

Already in the 80s many big name manufacturers had given up on typewriters. Big brands at one time were IBM, Remington, Adler, National, Olivetti, AEG, Olympia.  

A few years from now, the famous Jerry Lewis piece will be awkward. Here it is, for an early morning smile:
