The Estee Lauder Companies Inc. announced the exclusive worldwide license for fragrances under the Marni brand, a Milan-based marketer of luxury fashion and accessories.
Execution will be through its Aramis and Designer Fragrances Division (ADF).
The first product introduction will be unveiled in Fall of 2012.
In addition to the women’s collection, Marni men’s launched in 2002 followed by eyewear 2005 and Marni Edition collections in 2009.
Marni was founded only in 1994 and has ~320 points of sale worldwide. Clearly, Estee Lauder is betting on an outsider. At least in comparison to its other brands and licenses like Estee Lauder, Aramis, Clinique, Prescriptives, Origins, M*A*C, Bobbi Brown, Tommy Hilfiger, Kiton, La Mer, Donna Karan, Aveda, Michael Kors, Sean John, Missoni, Tom Ford, Coach and Ermenegildo Zegna.
